Red clay is stubborn. It settles into concrete and creeps up brick foundations like it belongs there - and if you live in an area with heavy clay soil, you know exactly what we're talking about. It doesn't take long before your driveway and exterior start looking more orange than they should.
That's exactly what we were dealing with here. The concrete driveway had a solid layer of clay buildup worked into the surface, and the brick foundation on the house had that telltale red-brown staining along the base. Both are incredibly common. Both are also completely fixable.
For the driveway, we ran a thorough concrete cleaning to pull the clay and grime out of the surface. Wide, open slabs like this one tend to collect a lot more than people realize - especially near wooded areas where runoff carries sediment across the concrete every time it rains. Once it's clean, the difference is night and day. The slab looks like itself again instead of an extension of the dirt around it.
The house soft wash took care of the foundation and siding. Soft washing is the right call here because it actually treats the surface - it's not just blasting water at it and hoping for the best. The solution breaks down the staining and organic buildup without damaging the brick or siding. That heavy clay line along the base of the foundation? Gone.
A clean driveway and clean exterior do a lot for how a home looks and feels. It's one of those things that's easy to let go because it happens gradually - but once it's handled, you wonder why you waited.
